Product @ Flatfile

Product Marketer

Data onboarding is a near-ubiquitous problem. Our mission is to solve it by enabling seamless data transactions between every organization in the world. How we deliver our solutions makes all the difference, though, and that's where our Product Marketers come in. You'll coordinate the effective delivery of Flatfile to the market, ensuring both our team and our customers understand what we built, who it's for, and why it matters.

Because of our ownership-driven culture, you can count on me to push you outside of your comfort zone. My product philosophy is that of radical engagement: with the market, our problems, and our customers. That means doing things like meeting with more customers than our CEO, learning how to pull insights from our database, and adjusting our prioritization heuristics while still pushing new initiatives forward. I will encourage you to try new approaches and break some of the rules - you're joining this business not just to operate in it, but to build it with us. I hope you're as excited about that challenge as I am.

23Why do I love working at Flatfile? It’s our human first approach to our coworkers and customers. The cross team collaboration to solving highly technical problems for our customers. The teams first principle mentality to solving problems. And finally the passion everyone has for improving the data onboarding experience is unreal!

How you'll directly impact our customers

How our customers will directly benefit from your work

Our hundreds of customers used to spend countless hours manipulating data sets just to make them usable. You get to be the fuel that turns that hundreds into thousands, and one day, millions. The only way to do that, though, is by getting to know them, what they care about, and how they realize value. Think of your role as chief translator: taking what we've built and framing the value in a way our customers understand, appreciate, and ultimately are willing to pay for.

Times you'll directly interact with our customers

Meeting with customers on a regular basis isn't just important for this role, it's required. You'll be collaborating with design partners during rapid product development cycles, shadowing (or leading!) sales calls with prospects, and presenting from both a stage and a desk.

Skills you'll need as a Product Marketer

A Product Marketer should be a master of positioning, meaning they understand why we’ve built something and educating others on its value. They should be concise and vivid, understanding how their audience best understands a new concept. Further, they should be able to effectively coordinate multiple launch initiatives, ideally through a systematic approach. And they are constantly in touch with our customer base, understanding humans and identifying patterns to turn into profiles we can leverage in both development and distribution efforts.

Required Skills

  • Program management

There's a lot to solve within the broader space of data onboarding, meaning that we'll constantly be shipping new functionality, iterations, and whole products. You'll need to effectively oversee product delivery, while at the same time building both internal and external comfort with the changes we make.

  • Communication

The best product in the world means nothing if no one understands how to use it. You'll need to devise messaging to our market, craft compelling training for our team, and understand how both we and our customers most effectively learn about the value Flatfile provides.

  • Research

The best product leaders are often the best at asking questions. Whether they're of our customers or of our data, you'll need to synthesize what you learn, interpret it in the context of our objectives, and use it to drive our mission forward.

  • Required Experience

  • You have previous experience in Product Marketing, Product Operations, Program Management, or Product Management

  • You have delivered B2B products to market in a high-growth startup environment

  • You have entrepreneurial spirit combined with a track record for of positive results in ever-changing environments

  • You can design and share processes to effectively ship solutions

  • You can build scalable frameworks to research and develop value propositions, use cases, and customer profiles

  • You can translate your insights into internal- and external-facing messaging that relay the value of Flatfile’s solutions

  • You prefer working in a collaborative, cross-team capacity. This role requires you to work across functions and departments to bring the product to life.
